Every account and policy in Hundo carries its nominee, tied to a real person — the knowledge stops living in one head. Who each rupee and paper is for →
The honest answers
Why can’t I just use a spreadsheet?
You can, and many families do — until the sheet needs the papers too, and the dates, and someone else in the house has to be able to read it. A spreadsheet holds numbers you type; it does not hold the LIC scan, does not know the FD matures on the 14th, and does not tell your family who the nominee is. That is where the evening comes back.
Does Hundo log into my bank and fetch this automatically?
No. There is no scraping and no account aggregator — you capture each account and document once, yourself. That is a real cost on day one, and it is the reason the number stays honest afterwards: nothing in your ledger is there because a scraper guessed at it.
Is this only for people with complicated finances?
It is for anyone whose money is in more than one place, which in India is most salaried households by their second job. Two bank accounts, an EPF balance, one policy and a PPF passbook is already four portals and a drawer.
